WEG has strengthened its partnership with PEME GOURDIN, a renowned pump manufacturer in France, by supplying four W60 motors (315kW, 8 poles, 5500V, IP66, 50Hz) for a strategic energy project in La Réunion.
The W60 motors drive single-stage pumps responsible for circulating cooling water at one of the island's most groundbreaking facilities: a plant operated by a leading producer of renewable energy in the French overseas territories. Located in Saint-Louis, this facility is one of the first cogeneration plants built in the overseas territories, providing electricity by using sugar cane bagasse and local biomass.
In service since 1995, this thermal power station underwent conversion work in 2023, enabling the abandonment of the use of coal, previously used outside the sugar campaign or at weekends, for 100% biomass use. The plant plays a crucial role, covering 22% of the overall energy produced in La Réunion.
This project replaces competitor motors with WEG solutions, reaffirming the trust the customers place in the company's high quality, energy-efficient products. The WEG motors boast a high efficiency level at full load, ensuring superior energy savings and reduced environmental impact.
The adoption of WEG W60 motors will bring significant improvements to daily operations, including enhanced energy efficiency, reduced operational costs, and greater reliability. Designed to deliver a fast return on investment, this solution plays a vital role in integrating clean technologies and supporting sustainable infrastructure development in La Réunion.
This supply highlights WEG’s dedication to strategic energy projects, delivering innovative and sustainable solutions tailored to meet its customers' specific needs. The partnership with PEME GOURDIN in this project exemplifies WEG’s positive impact on critical applications in the global market.
